I drink water after coffee, do all the right things but they become discoloured after a short time

I find it very hard to maintain the whiteness after the whitening process.m Pearl drops " Restorewhite" and "sparkle " help to brighten and maintain the whiteness Unless toothpaste has peroxide in, it won't whiten teeth. I had the custom made trays at the dentist, and then had to apply the gel for two weeks at home, cost£250, and that was a special offer, so zoo.m Whitening for that price was cheap. Do bear in mind though if you do get them whitened professionally what I mentioned about 'Dentine' in your teeth.I got mine whitened back in 2008 and they came out looking amazing, but my friend who got his done with me, although his came out looking great, they weren't as white as mine. So my recommendation would be to get professional teeth whitening done at your dentist (look at 'Zoom'), and then invest in a very good electric toothbrush (they make a huge difference) and look after your teeth (be careful with eating drinking foods which stain your teeth etc). These 100% work and your teeth will look a lot whiter, however similar to the toothpastes I was talking about, it's a very "temporary" shine and if you're not using them a few times a week consistently, then they just don't work.and the thing is, you shouldn't use something like that every week on your teeth.

Something that is hugely popular are 'Crest White Strips', which are whitening strips that you leave on your teeth usually for 15/30 minutes a night. There are a lot of whitening toothpastes out there where you will brush your teeth and think "wow, they look whiter after one brush", and this is because they call themselves whitening toothpastes but they actually contain little particles/polishing crystals which given a very temporary "gleam" to your teeth making them LOOK sparkly and white. With whitening toothpastes be very careful.you need one that contains baking soda (but this cleans, it doesn't whiten them), however this is very abrasive so if you brush too hard or the toothpaste contains a high amount of baking soda then you could be in trouble. Everyone has 'Dentine' in their teeth which naturally occurs, and the amount of dentine you have in your teeth determines how white your teeth will go when having them whitened. Teeth whitening doesn't work like that, and how white your teeth go differs from person to person. People like Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne etc who have gleaming white teeth have had veneers, where you can choose exactly how white you want your teeth to be. I wouldn't worry about your teeth going bright 's impossible with teeth whitening.

You can usually get it for about £90, but make sure you go for the in chair option at the dentist and not just the take home kit. I would suggest you get Zoom Teeth Whitening done. For anything decent you need to pay more than £8 for a toothpaste.
